YOUTH PROGRAMS

Our youth Skill Development Programs (SDP) is for children from 5 to 16 years of age. It follows the Cross Country BC youth skills program and the Long Term Athlete Development Program guidelines as set out by Sport Canada. The club offers programs for every stage: from the initial Bunnyrabbit program that introduces a cross country ski experience that will: help children develop a positive self-image; be fun; provide children an opportunity to make ski-friends; develop their skills; and help develop an awareness and appreciation of our natural environment, to the Development Program for skiers who are keen to ski fast, race, and compete.

Children enrolled in the program receive a toque / buff (depending on the age of the child) from Cross Country BC.

Included in the registration for any SDP program, Whistler Nordics will provide the cost of registration for Coast Cup #3 on Jan 20 at WOP, providing the child participates in the race.

PARENT / GUARDIAN VOLUNTEERS

A parent/guardian will be asked to participate in 1 or 2 practices or at a club event throughout the winter.

We are a community club and the success of our programs and events is built on parent participation. There are many roles available for volunteers, many of which are not a large time commitment. We welcome volunteers in any role, from coaching to helping at an event during the practices or Teck Coast Cup Events.

Equipment required

Your children should have skis, poles, and boots of the proper size. They will not have fun learning on equipment that is too big or too small for them.  For Bunnyrabbits to Jackrabbits Beginner, a single pair of skis (classic) is sufficient, no need for skate-specific skis and boots. For Jackrabbits Intermediate and Track Attack children will need classic & skate equipment.

There are several equipment options, purchase second hand gear at the club’s ski SWAP in October, buy new equipment from a local retailer, or rent equipment for the season.

Rent equipment at : Whistler Olympic Park & Cross Country Connection

Check out the local retailers for equipment and rentals:

The equipment options for Biathlon and Ski Jumping vary, please talk with your Sea 2 Sky Nordics coach for more details
