PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Our Track Attack Adventure program is directed at children ages 11-14 and is designed for skiers who have taken part in the Track Attack program (or XC skied with their familes), are 11+ years old and want to enjoy recreational/adventure skiing with peers and the social and community oriented part of Nordic skiing.

The ski practice will alternate between skate and classic technique.

2021/22 SCHEDULE & FEES

Practice Dates: Jan 2021 – March 2022

Tuesdays  4:30-6:00 pm at Lost Lake

Jan 4, 11, 18, 25 Feb 1, 8, 15, 22 Mar 1, 8, 15

Program Fee:  $181.50 for 11 sessions

**Early Bird Registration until Sept 30, 2021.  Program Price will increase $25 Oct 1, 2021.**

Please note that payment by credit card is required at time of registration.

A valid Whistler Nordics club membership is required for participation in club programs and can be purchased at the time of registration.

Program fees include: 11 sessions for Tuesdays, CCBC gift, entry to Coast Cup #2 on Jan 3rd. 

Youth Sport Season’s Passes are NOT included with the course fee but can be purchased at Meadow Park. Trail passes are $60 + tax and can be purchased at any time.

EVENTS

Teck Winter On- Snow Camp  Whistler- Nov/Dec 2021

An on-snow camp is planned for skiers in the 9-12 age range at Whistler Olympic Park, the camp includes an overnight stay at the Whistler Athlete Centre.  This camp is for all skier levels and is a great way to start the winter, meet and ski with friends, both new and old.

Teck BC Track Attack Championships in Kelowna Feb 26-27, 2022

The BC Championships is an annual event for skiers ages 9-12. This is a fun weekend of skiing somewhere new, often the calendar highlight for young skiers, full of fun races and socializing.  If your child would like to attend BC Championships this year with their fellow club members, please contact us as soon as possible to make transportation plans, group hotel bookings etc.  For more information click here.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Classic skis, poles and boots.

Skate skis, poles and boots.

Ski equipment can be rented at Cross Country Connection at Lost Lake.  

For second hand equipment, the club is hosting a Nordic ski swap. 

Valhalla Pure, Source for Sports, Whistler Olympic Park, Coast Outdoors, Mountain equipment Coop, and Sports Junkies (2nd hand) all sell Nordic ski equipment.

PARENT / GUARDIAN VOLUNTEERS

A parent/guardian will be asked to participate in 1 or 2 practices or at a club event throughout the winter.

We are a community club and the success of our programs and events is built on parent participation. There are many roles available for volunteers, many of which are not a large time commitment. We welcome volunteers in any role, from coaching to helping at an event during the practices or Teck Coast Cup Events.

Important Notes to read before you register:

Whistler Nordic Ski Club, CCBC & Nordiq Canada membership is mandatory to participate. It is not included in the fees outlined and can be purchased when registering for the program. Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable. Youth Membership total cost is $26.

Trail Passes are NOT included in the program fee for the 2021/22 season.  All Youth age 7 and older on Nov 15th who participate in a club program will need a valid Youth Sport Season Trail Pass in the area where their program takes place, value $60+tax for a Lost Lake Pass.  This pass is only available at Meadow Park.

Youth Sport Season Pass Pick Up:

Lost Lake – purchase / collect your pass from the front desk at Meadow Park at any time.

Parents will need to sign a waiver for the pass to be issued and the child who is receiving the pass also needs to be present in order to have their photo taken and printed on the pass.

Club Cancellation policy: Program refunds due to injury/illness prior to the start of the program will be considered.  A $25 administration fee will be charged and memberships will not be refunded. Once a program has commenced no refunds can be offered. In the event of a class cancellation no refunds will be offered but we will try our best to relocate the class.

Programs cancelled due to Covid-19 protocols:  a full refund for the program will be given if the program has not yet commenced, or a refund based on a pro rata basis will be given if the program has commenced.

The Kids On The Move Sports Fund is designed to help send children/youth of financially restricted families to coach led sport activities. Interested families who qualify financially are asked to apply with a Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) Outreach Worker. Please call 604-932-0113 for more information or click on this link. Whistler Adaptive Sport Program

Children requiring extra support in the form of a buddy can contact the Whistler Adaptive Sports Program. The Whistler Adaptive Sports Program is a not-for-profit society that provides year-around, recreational programs for people of all ages with disabilities. Whistler Adaptive is a centre for learning and sports excellence that has a local, regional, national and international clientele and encourages independence, self-confidence and self-motivation for all athletes and participants through outdoor activity.
