Interested in becoming an Official for:

BC Winter Games – Jan 2, 2022

FIS World Jnr/U23 Championships – Jan / Feb 2023

and more….

Getting close to the action and cheering on athletes at Cross Country races is lots of fun and you can get even more out of race day by volunteering to assist with the event. Roles can be as big or small as you want but they all make the event a success; try your hand at:

marshalling, counting laps, collecting bibs at the finish line, shepherding skiers at the start line, plunging the timing equipment as each boot crosses the finish line, setting up the event fencing and signs, and handing out hot chocolate to racers….

If you are new to volunteering and would like to better understand what you can do at an event, Cross Country Canada BC offers a level 1 Officials workshop through local clubs, minimum age is 16 years. It’s just one day and it will help prepare you for the volunteer roles at a Cross Country event – many clubs fund the workshop for club members who volunteer, talk with your local club to confirm the arrangement there. Once you’ve volunteered a few times there is a 2 day Level II workshop for volunteer roles with more responsibility and technical knowledge.

If you already have some race experience and cannot do the Level 1 in person, you can complete the online course.

To learn more about Officials Developemnt visit the Cross Country BC website. Check out the local workshops for 2021/22 in the corridor. For the full Officials Worshop Schedule in BC visit the Cross Country BC website
