There is something for everyone at the upcoming race series at Whistler Olympic Park, the Haywood NorAm Westerns and the Teck Coast Cups #2 and #3, January 20-22. These races are not just for the Hot Shots!
The NorAm categories start at Midgets (born in 2004 and older), and have races all three days, the Coast Cups on Saturday Jan 21, and Sunday Jan 22 have categories for Masters, and the younger tykes, Atoms to Bantams!
Friday features free technique sprints, and if you like to classic, Saturday’s interval start is for you! If you prefer free technique, find your self a team of 3 (same gender, same age and division to make it official, but “unofficial” teams will still have fun!), and register for the team relay on Sunday.
Not interested in racing but want to get involved? We need lots of help, from bib washing, to marshaling on the course, to timing and food preparation. An event of this magnitude takes a big crew. Please consider signing up as a volunteer. For more info go to: http://callaghanxcski.ca/events/westerns2017/volunteers/
We are also seeking sponsors and donated items for prizing – especially locally produced foodstuffs, consumables, and items young racers and volunteers would appreciate. Please contact sherryl@callaghanxcski.ca if you or your company would like to participate as a sponsor.
CVXC is an umbrella hosting club, with members representing the five clubs in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Clubs will receive a percentage of the event profits, based on volunteer participation. We strongly encourage our member clubs to promote and support this event.

Teck Coast Cup Series Technical Guidelines
The P’ayak is a weekend-long premier mass participation (600+ participants) cross country ski event comprising 15km, 30km, 50km Loppets, kids’ ski tournament & youth ski cross race.
P’ayakentsut comes from the Squamish Nation … A place to train oneself physically.
Squamish warriors came to this remote place year round to train. They would go into seclusion to fast and perform rigorous endurance exercises in the mountains, forests, rivers and lakes. They also conducted cold water bathing here – striving for harmony and discipline. Their culture is manifested through our strong physical and spiritual relationship with nature.
The 2016 Payak event will take place over 2 days: Feb 27 Payak, Feb 28 Kids’ tournament & Youth ski-cross. Click here to register for the loppet and the kids & youth events. Remember to stay tuned to payak.ca for news and updates. View the race notice here.
CVXC is the host club of the Sigge’s Payak and high level racing at Whistler Olympic Park. It is composed of members of the Nordic Racers, Whistler Nordics, Sea to Sky Nordics, Hollyburn Cross Country Ski Club, and Spud Valley Nordics. For more information, go to http://www.callaghanxcski.ca/.
Volunteer!
No experience is required; any necessary training will be provided at the start of shift. Just bring appropriate clothing and a great attitude! Volunteers are needed for both the loppet events on Saturday (February 27) and the kids’ programs on Sunday (February 28).
All volunteers are fed a tasty lunch, and are eligible for great draw prizes from the event sponsors, including Salomon, Fisher, Swix, and Icebreaker. This event is hosted by the Callaghan Valley Cross Country Ski Club – comprised of the Nordic Racers, Hollyburn, Sea to Sky Nordics, Whistler Nordics and Spud Valley ski clubs.
Signup online to volunteer for the 2016 event.
