XC Ski SWAP @ Hilton Resort & Spa

The Whistler Nordics are pleased to present their annual ski SWAP on the Turkey Sale weekend. Purchase used cross country ski gear including classic and skate skis, boots, poles, or sell your used equipment.  Local retailers also attend with great deals.

When: Saturday 7 October
10AM-12PM: Equipment Drop Off
12-2PM: SKI SWAP
2-3PM: Cash/Equipment Pick-Up
Where: Hilton Resort & Spa

Selling gear? Drop off your used XC Ski equipment and clothing between 10-12PM. Sale tags cost $2 each, but if you drop off before 11AM they’ll only cost $1! The club retains 15% of all SWAP Sales. Collect your cash or un-sold items between 2-3PM.

Buying gear? General admission to the Ski SWAP is 12:00-2PM.

Note that any unclaimed sales proceeds and equipment after 3pm will be considered donations to the club. The Whistler Nordics will deliver all unclaimed equipment to the Reuse It Centre to support the local community.

Teck Regional On-Snow Camp (Coast) Whistler, Nov 17-19, 2017

 

Host Club: Whistler Nordics, Camp Coach: Maria Lundgren

This is an on snow camp for youth age 9+ years in the Coast region on the stored snow “Callaghan Gold”. Athletes will stay at the Athletes’ Lodge, located in the Athletes’ Village in Whistler, on Friday and Saturday night. Meals will be catered by Whistler Food Co on Friday (snacks), Saturday (breakfast, snack, lunch & dinner) and Sunday (breakfast, snack & lunch). Please eat before you arrive on Friday!

Camp schedule

Start: Check-in Friday November 17 at 6pm at the Athletes’ Lodge, Team meeting in the Hub at 7pm.
End: Sunday November 19 at 2pm. Pick-up is outside the Technical Building at the Cross Country
Stadium.
This camp has a full participation policy. The participants are expected to arrive at 6pm on Friday November 17 and stay until the camp ends at 2:00pm on Sunday November 19 unless a prior arrangement has been made with the coach.

Registration closes: November 2nd, midnight.
(We have to confirm accommodation at Whistler Athletes Centre on November 3rd).
Camp Fees: $185 (includes meals, accommodation, and Zone 4 processing fees).
Trail Fees: $25.20 ($12.00 day + 5% GST).

Call for volunteers

To make the camp run smoothly and keep costs low we are looking for volunteers to:

  • Assist with coaching on both days, overnight accommodation provided (*see below).
  • Drive kids to Whistler Olympic Park and back to the athlete lodge on Saturday and to Whistler Olympic Park on Sunday.
  • Help coordinate the food distribution on Saturday morning, Saturday night, Sunday morning.
  • Stay over and provide supervision at the athlete lodge on the Friday and Saturday night.

*Note that those people staying over at the lodge need to be coaches (e.g. certified with an up to date Criminal Record Check)

AGM & Season Kick Off Social @ Passiv Haus, Lost Lake, Whistler

Join us on December 2nd for our season kick off social and Annual General Meeting. Come hear what we’ve been working on and our future plans then enjoy a complementary meal with drinks afterwards to celebrate the season start. All Board of Director positions are up re-election and are voluntary. If you are interested in going the Board please email the Administrator in advance and attend the meeting to nominate yourself.

The Whistler Nordics is pleased to offer Masters skiers a high-level training and technique program. Coaching will be undertaken by our very own local High Performance coach Maria Lundgren (Former Youth Swedish National Ski Team member and past Callaghan Valley Training Centre Coach) and former BC ski team member, Lauren Doak. If you are looking for a dynamic coaching team to support improving your technique, fitness or competitive objectives, such as the legendary annual Sigge’s Payak on Feb 24th, this is the program for you. The program includes 8 sessions, and as an added bonus 2 social après. Skiers should be of an intermediate ability upwards (beginners should contact Whistler Olympic Park for beginner lessons)
